Georgios Tzeferakos is a physician specialized in Psychiatry, having completed his psychiatric training at the Aiginiteio Hospital – 1st Department of Psychiatry, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA).

During his residency, Dr. Tzeferakos received extensive clinical training in the assessment and treatment of patients with:

Schizophrenia and related psychotic disorders of the schizophrenia spectrum
Mood and anxiety disorders
Substance use disorders
Eating disorders
Personality disorders, including participation in the inpatient treatment program for patients with Borderline Personality Disorder

He has also received training in:

Dr. Tzeferakos holds a PhD from the Medical School of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens in Psychiatry and Forensic Psychiatry. He has many years of professional experience working within the psychiatric services of Korydallos Prison and Korydallos Correctional Facility, with continuous involvement in cases concerning criminal responsibility, legal capacity and validity of legal acts, medical law, and human rights.

He has extensive experience in the field of addiction psychiatry, having worked with the Greek Organization Against Drugs (OKANA) and having served as Director of the OKANA Therapeutic Unit at Attikon University Hospital (MOTHE OKANA – PGN Attikon) for six years. This unit was one of only two OKANA units in Greece authorized to administer both available opioid substitution treatments, while also specializing in Dual Diagnosis patients and long-acting therapeutic interventions (Long Acting Therapies).

Dr. Tzeferakos was a founding member and the first President of the corresponding section of the Hellenic Psychiatric Association. He has also previously served as:

He has served for many consecutive years as a psychiatrist in a Mobile Mental Health Unit on the island of Milos, while currently practicing as a visiting Psychiatrist in Santorini in collaboration with the Central Clinic of Athens.
