Addiction syndrome
(Alcohol, Cannabis, Heroine, Cocaine, benzodiazepines, bulimia)
In most cases, when people hear about substance abuse they only think about drugs and believe that addiction is a choice of the individual, verification of immaturity or invalid character. In fact, however, the addiction syndrome is a multifactorial condition with a strong genetic factor. It concerns the way in which someone associates him/herself with a substance (whether legal or illegal), an object or a behavior. People suffering from addiction syndrome usually develop very strong impairment behavior in social and professional relationships.
Addiction syndrome is a chronic and relapsing condition that often (at a rate of almost 40%) coexists with some other mental disorder (patients of dual diagnosis), it destroys the quality of life of both the patient and his environment, creates huge economic and health consequences and, sometimes, leads to death.
Our scientific team acknowledges that the addiction syndrome cannot solely be solved through medication and some advisory sessions. We are convinced that when it comes to addiction, the big problem is not just quitting, but not relapsing, which is part of all chronic diseases.
In order to achieve that, we use our twenty-year experience in addiction issues in order to mobilize, inform and guide the family; we perform diaforodiagnostic interviews; we provide treatment for the withdrawal syndrome as well as treatments for any coexisting mental conditions; we offer group and individual psychotherapy; finally, we introduce outgoing patients to relevant programs.
